Hello World

OK, this blog is not anonymous. It's a weird feeling going for this. The idea of public disclosure is scary. It's likely very few people will be interested in this blog unless I manage to do something that turns out to be significant, at which point a lot of curious google hits will spread this stuff. Either that or I choose an unfortunate combination of terms in a post. Dunno what I think about that yet, but here goes.

I'm Dave Thornley, graduate of the University of Oxford in engineering and computer science, PhD from Imperial College London, where I'm a postdoc. I'm getting the hang of working out models of things for computation and prediction. The main things I look at just now are DNA sequencing and performance analysis. If you go to my homepage in the Department of Computing you'll find some pointers. It's a poor webpage as of writing this post, but it points to the performance research group web page run by someone who knows about web pages, which has me on it too.

I haven't decided what I'm going to put on this blog yet. My anonymous blog has been - and continues to be - a learning experience. I wonder what this one will be like.
